Emergency Aid was created by the government of Brazil in 2020 as a strategy to help families in difficulties.
The choice was made to contain the economic damage caused by social isolation as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Millions of Brazilians lost their jobs or had their monthly income seriously compromised. Emergency Aid came precisely to support these suddenly vulnerable families.
What is Emergency Aid?
This is an amount intended for people who found themselves unemployed or self-employed professionals who lost part of their monthly funds.
It is important to note that the value includes only informal workers. Therefore, people who have a portfolio record do not have access to the value.
Emergency Aid was implemented and had its first installments released in 2020.
However, as the pandemic spread and many families continued to struggle, the government renewed the plots with new value for the year 2021.
However, new rules were also created to reduce the number of recipients. We will understand below who is entitled to Emergency Aid in 2021.
Who is entitled to the Aid?
It is important to analyze the criteria to understand who is entitled to Emergency Aid. Those who do not comply with the prerequisites do not have access to value. Here are the basic criteria:
families with a total monthly income of up to 3 minimum wages – as long as the per capita income (per family member) is less than half the minimum wage;
- Subscribers to Bolsa Família;
- Informal workers;
- Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI).
It is important to highlight here that in the case of those enrolled in the Bolsa Família program, the benefits are not cumulative. Therefore, the applicant must choose the most advantageous value and choose only it.
It is also important to know that the new standard allows only one member per family to have access to the benefit.
In other words, even if two members are eligible, it is necessary to reach a consensus about who will be the recipient of the emergency amount released by the government.
How to consult the Aid

What is the amount of Emergency Aid 2021?
This time the government will provide differentiated values according to each profile. The first 5 installments were 600 reais and there was an extension of 4 more installments of 300 reais.
Now, however, the value can vary between 150 and 375 reais. The criteria for values are as follows:
- Families composed of only one person (single parent) will benefit from R $ 150.00 per month;
- Families composed of more than one person will receive a benefit of R $ 250.00 per month;
- Families headed by a woman without a spouse or partner, with at least one under eighteen years of age will receive R $ 375.00.
The government provides for the payment of 4 equal installments. However, every month there will be a check to see if the individual still fits the case that was presented.
In the event of any change in the family nucleus – such as marriage – Emergency Assistance may be suspended. This can also be checked on the website itself.
How to withdraw the Aid?
Many people have doubts about how to withdraw Emergency Aid. Fortunately, the procedure went through improvements and became more practical after a few months of system failures and outages. See the step by step:
- Download the Caixa Tem application on your mobile phone;
- Access the app and enter your data;
- Look for the “Withdraw” option.A two-hour validity code will be generated.
- You must write this code down and use it at an ATM of CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL.
If the code expires, it will be necessary to repeat the procedure for accessing and generating a new sequence. That is why we indicate that the withdrawal should be done afterwards.
Emergency Aid has helped millions of Brazilians maintain a minimum standard of quality of life with the amount paid. It was aimed at the people who were most affected economically by the pandemic.
Stay and look at your right and follow the payment schedule to have access to the amount as soon as it is available. Remember that assistance can be suspended at any time if you stop meeting the prerequisites.
Although little, the amount can be of great help to families that today depend almost entirely on Emergency Aid.
It comes from government funds that control the Treasury Direct, responsible for collecting taxes, taxes and miscellaneous payments. Therefore, it is a right of the needy population and a duty of the government of Brazil.
